Small Town Business Ideas for

Big Time Income

Small town business ideas can serve your community and put money in your pocket. Because of the economic strains, many homeowners and business owners will put off purchasing new cars, computers, home improvements, clothes, shoes, handbags and capital improvements. Individuals and businesses will choose to repair many of these items in an effort to extend their work life, rather than purchase new ones.

If you are handy at repairing things around the home or office, repairing clothes, repairing computers or creating practical crafts, you may be able to fill the demand for services to fix and maintain personal assets for families and businesses. Service businesses that expand the life of personal assets are ideal for home-based operations, and many can be operated from vans and trucks.

Handy Man: Are you good at fixing things around the house? Many people need little things fixed around their homes or places of business. Having someone to repair things that are not large jobs can be big business.

Tailor/Seamstress and/or Handbag Repair: If you are good at mending coats, letting out or taking up hems, and repairing handbags, your talents can be of service to your small town.

Computer Repair and Maintenance: The business life of a computer was 18 months and the life of a home computer was 24 months, but now everyone is opting to get the maximum life out of his or her computer. Start giving out your business cards; advertise in church bulletins and local papers. Present a community workshop about expanding the life of your computer.

Crafters: Do you create a craft that is useful and beautiful? Things like Afghans and cotton knitted dish clothes (I love those things) are beautiful and practical. Start displaying them at various venues, like craft fairs, and flea markets. I know a woman that displays her wears at the laundry mat, while she is washing her clothes. Make sure they are high quality crafts used around the house. Also, consider an online venue consider an online venue where crafters can list and sell there hand made crafts. Etsy.com is a place where only hand made crafts can be listed.

Create a Website about Your Town: Write about the tourist spots, public events, and hometown teams. Make money with ads, and finders fees.

Because you live in a small town, you attend church, frequent the same diner, and attend the same small town events with these people. They know and like you. Advertise in church bulletins, local papers, give out your business cards, and consider building a website that gets local traffic.
