Train Your Pet for TV

Running a home based pet business that involves training and hiring pets out to perform on TV takes some preparation and know how, but it is a lot of fun and you can meet some interesting people, and animals, while making some extra cash.

What Will It Cost

Agency Administration- $25.00

Basic Obedience Training for you and your pet is about $2000.00 (training you how to train and control your pet).

High quality photos- 0 to $100.00 (they do not have to be professional, but they must be clear with neutral back grounds, no people, furniture, cars, etc, and no Polaroid.)

Leashes, travel carrier, and crates depending on the size of the animal $450.00

Total Cost to start about $2575.00 for one animal (cat or dog to start)

What You Need to Know

If your well-trained animal gets a TV or commercial job, you could make about $300.00 a day.

Your pet needs to be healthy and look healthy

Your pet must have all required shots.

Your pet does not need to know any special tricks; your pet must have good social skills with humans and other animals. They must demonstrate basic obedience skills at all times.

Recall (come when called) Your pet cannot be aggressive to strangers or other animals. Even if your pet is well behaved most of the time, this will not be good enough for directors and modeling photographers. They do not like to waste time doing retakes. It takes a great deal of patience and dedication to train animals, and getting pets to perform on cue. Therefore, companies are generally very wary about casting untrained animals.

Any agency, corporation, studio and you must abide by the Animal Welfare Act

What You Need to Do

Once you pet is trained, register with an animal actors and modeling agency (about $25.00).

If your dog is extraordinary, consider filming some videos for You Tube

Get connected with an animal trainer or wrangler in your area, casting agencies usually contact them looking for new talent.

Contact TV stations and show producers
