A Home Based Business Start Up May Be the Best Option for the Middle Class

A home based business start up is something that the middle class should embrace, as they have never done before. The belief that the best way to secure your future is with a college degree is fading. Many people that graduated in May are still looking for jobs, and it is September. On the other hand, they may have a job but it is only part time and not in the field, they have spent years studying.

Consider my young friend Amy she spent four years studying social work and she has a job as a teacher’s aide. She is grateful to have a job, but it is not enough to pay the bills and her student loans, so she is going to graduate school sooner that she thought she would. Or the son of my friend who studied criminal justice, but many jobs in the criminal justice system have a job freeze on them, because most are government jobs that are cutting back. He is working an entry-level security job. He is hopeful that things will get better.

Consider these facts from the 2009 current population survey data on labor market experience, and consider a starting your home based business start up.

  • Nationally about 3 % of college graduates are working involuntarily in part-time positions
  • About 2% have withdrawn from the labor force even though they desire a job
  • And while 83% of 2009 graduates are employed, only two thirds of these recent college grads had college labor market jobs
  • The remaining one-third worked outside of the college labor market, they were employed in jobs that are most often fill by high school graduates, frequently in retail or low-end service jobs.
  • This means that only about half of new 2009 college graduates, who did not go on to graduate school, were employed in college labor market positions.

This does not mean that getting a college education is not a worthy goal, but it is not a guarantee that you will get the job of your dreams. So what is next? So what should a college graduate do? Consider your own home based business start up, and put that degree to work for you. You are a go-getter and a self-starter. After all, you have worked four years to get a piece of paper you cannot spend. Your college degree accomplishment proves that you know how to work on your own. Start your own business, and invest in yourself. Work your home based business start up while you are looking for a job, working your part-time job or even if you are working a job in your chosen field. You will be able too:

  • Work your own hours
  • Be your own boss
  • Never get laid off
  • Stop waiting for someone to hire you
  • Follow your passion

Look at the possibilities, and start building your own web business with one to the following business options.

  • Build an Internet business based on what you know from experience, hobbies, passions, or past time, become An Infopreneur
  • Publish a theme based information site that works, and monetized with affiliate programs.
  • Free yourself from eBay and build an online auction online auction site with your own traffic, where you can diversify your offerings, and build equity through content.
  • You could sell e-goods. Things like E-books (especially non-fiction), E-photos, (booming), or any niche software. The whole “digital goods for sale” space is soaring.
Hey! Do not be afraid and do not put it off another day take control of your own career!
